There is a rooster on one side and a bouquet of yellow flowers on the other, and the entire surface in between is covered in blue tulips, red and yellow blooms, green leaves, and striped borders in brown, green, and blue. This Portuguese coffee pot is a celebration in ceramic form — hand-painted from lid to base, handle included, with the kind of exuberant folk art energy that makes a breakfast table feel like an occasion.

Arte Ceramica Arcer produced this piece in Portugal in the 1990s, working in the vibrant hand-painted tradition that has defined Portuguese decorative ceramics for centuries. The rooster — galo de Barcelos — is one of Portugal's most beloved national symbols, representing good luck, justice, and faith. Having one in your kitchen is considered an invitation for good fortune to find you at home.

Use it as a coffee pot, a pitcher for sangria or lemonade, a vase for wildflowers, or simply display it as the cheerful decorative object it is. It works beautifully on a farmhouse table, a cottagecore shelf, a Mediterranean-inspired kitchen, or anywhere a little color and character is welcome.

Very good vintage condition. The thin lines around the top opening are from manufacturing — not cracks. No chips, breaks, or other defects.
